Today marks the release of Indo-Canadian singer/rapper and songwriter Karan Aujla‘s new album, Making Memories.
Already well-established on the global Punjabi music scene since 2014, the musician born Jaskaran Singh “Karan” Aujla enjoys 7.5 million monthly Spotify listeners and almost 6 million Instagram followers who all love his mix of traditional lyricism and poetry placed aside contemporary pop production.
Making Memories is a unique release for this artist as it is receiving a joint venture release between Warner Music India and Warner Music Canada, which views this talented singer as someone who can be groundbreaking in bridging the gap between Punjabi pop and the wider global market.
To push that plan, the leadoff single Admirin’ You, features Juno breakthrough artist of the year, R&B singer Preston Pablo, and production from acclaimed Ontario-based producer Ikky. Given Ikky’s trail-blazing production with Diljit Dosanjh, Sidhu Moose Walla and others, it seems to be a sure win.
Aujla says the following about the track:
“This single is the best example of what I am trying to display with my melodies and writing style for the full-length album. It’s the perfect mix of Punjabi lyrics and western melodies and I hope my fans can take it in and create something unforgettable for themselves.”
Hats off to another talented Vancouver-developed artist making worldwide music news.
