The closure will enable crews to safely install steel girders near the existing bridge, says TransLink.

The bridge will be closed to northbound traffic heading from Surrey to New Westminster on Sept. 8, Friday, and Sept. 9, Saturday, from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m.
The bridge will remain open to pedestrians and cyclists and to southbound traffic.
Motorists are advised to take the Port Mann or Alex Fraser bridges instead. TransLink routes, including night buses, will be re-routed over the Alex Fraser and Queensborough bridges between New Westminster and Scott Road Stations.
The $1.38-billion four-lane replacement bridge is slated to open in 2024.
