Sarah McLachlan to headline B.C.’s Salmon Arm Roots and Blues Festival

Sarah McLachlan is one of the headliners at the 2024’s Salmon Arm Roots and Blues Festival, which takes place July 26-28.

The Lilith Fair star was scheduled to appear at last year’s event but that was cancelled due to the smoky conditions caused by rampant forest fires throughout the Shuswap.

Salmon Arm Folk Music Society artistic director Kevin Tobin said he is pleased that scheduling permitted McLachlan’s appearance this year.

“So many people, me included, were looking forward to hearing Sarah McLachlan’s iconic songs ring through Salmon Arm last summer,” said Tobin. “We’re thrilled that she and so many other incredible artists from across the world are able to come back this year.

“Our mission has always been to bring world-class and culturally diverse music to Salmon Arm and, with the artists we’ve confirmed for the 32nd annual festival so far, I think we’ve done that even better this year.”

In its multi-decade history, the Salmon Arm Roots and Blues Festival has gained a reputation for its high quality booking and great festival grounds. And though the full lineup of performers has yet to be announced, the list so far is impressive.

Among the artists appearing are blues rocker Amanda Marshall, party rulers Five Alarm Funk and soulful Oji-Cree singer/songwriter Aysanabee.

Additional acts include rising star Begonia, Nashville country singer Miko Marks, Kootenay electro-folkies Moontricks, jazz swingers Blue Moon Marquee and Columbian/Canadian Polaris prize-winning artist Lido Pimienta.
