Save the date: Kruder & Dorfmeister spin in Vancouver

In celebration of their formation, legendary Austrian duo Kruder & Dorfmeister bring their 30th Anniversary Tour to the Harbour Event and Convention Centre on Sept. 12 at 7 p.m. Tickets to the live set with visuals start at $47.92 at showpass.com.

Coming together in the early 1990s as the electronic music scene in Vienna was really coming into its own, Peter Kruder and Richard Dorfmeister specialised in a blend of downtempo house, jazz, hip hop and drum and bass into an easy-flowing mix that exploded globally. The group were even commissioned by Nokia to create ringtones and sounds for its luxury Nokia 8800 Arte and 9900 Sapphire Arte phones.

Recording a seminal session for the influential DJ-Kicks series in 1996, the group hit global paydirt with the K&D Sessions compilation on the Studio !K7 label. Their live sets at major clubs and festivals were universally acclaimed.

With tracks ranging from remixes of Depeche Mode and Bone Thugs-n-Harmony to drum and bass star Roni Size, the double CD set was listed by Spin Magazine as one of the Top 20 albums of 1999. Subsequent projects from the two have ranged from a remix concept for the opera Tosca, the large-scale Peace Orchestra, and other jazzier projects.

The duo’s most recent release was 2020’s 1995.
