British singer/songwriter Sam Smith brought their Gloria the Tour to Rogers Arena in Vancouver on Tuesday, taking to Instagram to share some love for the tour stop and city.
“LAST NIGHT WAS SO SPECIAL. THANK YOU FOR ALL THE MAGIC. YOUR CITY HOLDS A SPECIAL PLACE IN MY HEART ALWAYS ❤️,” the Grammy Award-winning musician shared on Instagram.
In addition to wowing fans with the hit-packed concert, Smith also caused a stir by showing some love for a local restaurant — Fat Mao Noodles in Chinatown.
In a gallery posted to the social media app, Smith shared a photo posed outside the restaurant location at 217 E Georgia St., along with a full bowl of noodles followed by an additional snapshot of the bowl, emptied. The photo gallery finished with a close-up selfie of Smith looking rather sated.
“Fat Mao is the one,” Smith captioned the photo. “I love Vancouver.”
The Asian noodle bar, which is one of several restaurants throughout the city under the direction of Chef Angus An, opened in Chinatown in 2015. Read Vancouver Sun restaurant critic Mia Stainsby’s review of the restaurant here. A second Fat Mao Noodles location at 983 Helmcken St. opened in 2022.
“Omg, yes,” An replied to the artist’s appreciation post that garnered more than 67,000 likes and 567 comments.
