Cyclist dies after collision with semi-truck in Surrey

A cyclist has died after being hit by a transport truck in Surrey on Tuesday.

The collision occurred around 7:35 a.m. near 120 Street and 104 Avenue.

The cyclist was travelling west on 104th Avenue, east of 120 Street, when they lost control of their bike and was struck by the semi-truck towing a trailer.

The cyclist died at the scene.

Surrey RCMP say impairment and speed do not appear to be factors in the crash.

The driver is co-operating with police.

The collision shut down 104 Avenue between 122 Street and Scott Road as police gathered evidence. Drivers should avoid the area and take alternate routes.

Anyone in the area around the time who saw the collision or may have dash-cam footage is asked to contact Surrey RCMP at 604-599-0502.
